       -Alishan-

Here is the sun rise train!

            7-Eleven baby!

Welcome to Alishan! My roommates and the teachers from the other school decided to go on a little adventure to the mountains of Alishan. It's suppose to have the most beautiful sunrises. You take a train to the top of the mountain and watch the sunrise. It's awesome because you are above the clouds that the clouds are underneath you and the sunrise comes up behind the mountains.
We all took a little bus car on the way up there. The ride was amazingly beautiful, minus the fact that the little dwarf sleepy came out of me. I was passed out. Maybe because I went to bed super late and woke up early to catch the train. And yes we almost missed the train because we had to rush on our bikes to the station. While taking the bus up to Alishan we got to stop at a couple of different places. It was pretty sweet. When we finally arrived after 2 hours of traveling we went through the forest. They had so many different places that we could go look at. They had over 30 "Giant" trees and Ponds and sacred gardens etc. It was pretty sweet. I felt like I was living in Lord of the Rings or something, like some kind of fairy tale. It was the coolest feeling. When we got back we decided to go to dinner at what I thought was disgusting food, the only thing normal was the rice. Everyone was just chowing down. It was mostly see food and a pot full of water and who knows what else. Everyone was eating these little lobsters with the eyes on them and everything. Sadly to say I was the only one that did not partake of the lob----ster. Sick. Sorry all you seafood lovers!
When we arrived at our hostile the "Bed and breakfast hostile" it was completely different then I had expected it to be. We fit 6 girls into one bed and the guys sat slept in the other bed. It was so much fun and surprisingly I wasn't all that squished. We woke up to the funniest wake up call at 3:30, a little old asian guy speaking, I mean yelling chinese to us. Ha ha, it was way funny. And please just guess what our breakfast was.... HOT WATER..... YES HOT WATER. Ha ha I'm not gonna lie I was expecting at least a piece of bread, but hot water. What kind of bed and breakfast is this anyway. Oh well the old guy made up for it. Oh and there was a starbucky's there! It was expensive though!
The sunrise was so much fun, yes it was pitch black and so cold and seriously I thought the train was going to fall over. There was so many people on the train and it was rocking back and forth. But we made it up and down in one piece. When we got to the top of the hill there was The most obnoxious asians yelling on a microphone the whole time. There was like 3 of them, and we had no clue what they were saying. So Britta and me decided to go around and take pictures of the people that were wearing the sweetest glasses ever. It made our whole morning to see all the old people wearing these goofy glasses.
On our way back down everyone was pretty tired, we all crashed in the car within 5 min. As we got to the train station we had to hurry and book it to church because one of the girls was giving a talk in sacrament and we were practically half of the ward if not more then half. It was a good sunday though. As we departed from our friend from the other school and arrived at the train station in Chang hua, Darren and me could not find our bikes anywhere. They were stolen and there was nothing we could do. We were so sad. I felt especially bad for Darren because he spent a lot of money on his bike. :( I guess that was to be expected. Our bikes were locked up and Britta's wasn't and her bike didn't get stolen. She is a lucky duck. Oh well, life goes on! I loved Alishan though and I'm so glad we had such a fun group to go with and one who was fluent in Chinese, that always makes things easier! -- Sorry I'm really tired, this may sound a little sloppy.
